If you find yourself waking up often with a backpain or a stiff neck, then maybe it is time you change your mattress. This time, you have to buy a memory foam mattress as it does offer many benefits that regular mattresses do not have.
But how do you choose the right memory foam mattress in India?
Here two important tips:
- Choose the Right Foam Type
- Find the Right Thickness
Let us discuss each one.
Choose the Right Foam Type
Not all memory foam mattresses are made of the same material. The most common one is polyurethane. In recent years, other variants have come to the market with different features.
For example, there is a memory mattress that is made of gel foam. This is a kind of foam that gets cool if your body’s temperature rises when you sleep. This is ideal for humid areas, or bedrooms that do not have an air-conditioning system.
Gel foams have gel beads inside them. What they do is allow better airflow between your body and the foam.
Some memory foams are made with traditional materials. These are products that entered the market back in the early 1990s. The thing is, these foams can cause discomfort because of the heat. If you have an A/C, then this should not be a problem.
Find the Right Thickness and Density
Like other mattresses, the best mattress in India does not necessarily come in one thickness. Since the foam adjusts to your body curve, you are likely to feel only the first three inches of it.
The thing is, these foams do not come with the same density. The lower the density, the more likely you are going to sink into it. In this case, a 4-inch foam will not do it. If you want low-density foam, you need to buy something thicker.
What is density?
Some people think that density is a measurement of how a foam feels. This not entirely true. Density also has something to do with durability.
Density is measured by pound per cubic foot. In essence, a higher density mattress will outlast one that has lesser density. For example, a memory foam mattress with a density of five pounds per cubic foot will certainly be more durable than one that has three pounds per cubic foot.
By far, the 5-pound one can outlast the 3-pound one by ten years.
One thing you should be aware of is that some companies that offer 5-pound density foams do not tell you that it is only for the first inch. With this foam, it is only the first inch that is durable.
When buying, choose one that has a high-density foam on all layers.
Memory foam is a must-have if you want to have a good night’s sleep. When buying a mattress online in India, make sure that the two conditions laid out above are met. Memory foams are expensive, and you want to purchase only the best to get your money’s worth.
